About Me

edit

Hello! I am a student participating in a running start program with the intent of giving myself a boosted experience to life, knowledge, and a college environment. I have many interests, some of which include anime/manga, video games, music, collecting squishmellows, and science! My top five favorite anime and manga series's so far are, Bleach, Tokyo Ghoul, Hell's Paradise, Jojo's Bizarre adventures and yona of the dawn. I also enjoy listening to Lo-fi music whenever I am studying or dealing with a time consuming assignment because it allows me to focus on the task at hand[1].

My Wikipedia Interests

edit

My Wikipedia Interests lie mostly in positively reviewing posts and possibly having the chance to educate/work on an animal species post, I hope to soon help make changes to posts where my research and information will actually be useful and helpful! As a volunteer, I also hope to one day create my own wikipedia post.

Article Evaluation

edit

I've recently finished watching a car anime called Initial D, and I got really intrigued about the main character's car. The Toyota Eight-Six Trueno (AE86). In the show, while everyone had Mazda's FD's and FC's, or Nissan r32c GTR (considered good racing cars) the main characters, AE86, was considered to be an old, rusty and definitely not a race car. But everyone was shocked, when it outperformed everyone. Since then, I've been really interested in the car and its history, which is why I visited the Toyota AE86 article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: it's age, mediocre citations, and structure/completeness.

Although the AE86 is pretty old, the page itself is fairly new and has been edited as recently as 10/05/2022. Since this is a page about a car from the 1980's, it would not be surprising to see sources and citations from a decent time ago. While looking at its update history, I can see that a new section has been added, but it was from 2017. I also noticed the article mentioned that the cars, car parts are being used in new limited edition models, I would like to hear more about that.

Citations

edit

Once again, this page is about an old car make and model, so you would expect some old sources. While clicking on some of the sources listed in the reference column, most if not all sources, are relevant to the car in someway. Whether it is about the races its participated in, the first factory that ever built it getting shut down, or even how Toyota is using AE86 parts in building some new limited edition cars, they all pertain to the AE86 in some way. There is one section though, that does need some help with more citations and verifications. In section "The AE86 in motorsports", there are two comments made by another wiki user who commented on some information that needed to be verified. One other thing I would like to mention as for why sources might be old, is that a lot of them are mostly about car parts, not much news or updates happening there.

Structure/Completeness

edit

This page has an abundance of information, from engine details, racing history, and even the cars involvement with pop culture. I believe this wiki page is pretty well informed in all verses. It has even gone as far as to include pictures of all the different body types and styles of the AE86. Everything is represented proportionally, nothing is out of place However, I would like to see more details about how the AE86's car parts are now being used in some of Toyota's new corollas.

Conclusion

edit

Overall, the Toyota AE86 article is pretty well informed and I believe that it is a great source of information for anyone who wants to learn the basics and history of the car. Apart from the old sources, I would like to see more information and updates about the car parts being used in new corolla models, and the citation needed in the "The AE86 in motorsports" section.
