The 2023 NAL Final, retroactively referred to by the NAL as the 2023 UL Final and often referred to as The Greatest Soccer Game Ever, was the final match of the 2023 NAL Playoffs. The match was the first Final to be played in the history of the United League (UL), then known as the North American League (NAL). The Final was played on May 26, 2023, in Mexico City, Mexico, between Chicago FC and Philadelphia FC. The match, after finishing 2–2, went to extra time, with Chicago FC winning 3–2 on penalties.

editAfter finishing third in the 2023 regular season, Chicago FC, in the quarterfinals, played San Francisco FC (now known as Sporting BA). In the match, Chicago defeated San Francisco 3–1. In the semifinals, Chicago won a lopsided match versus CF Tijuana 5–1.
Philadelphia FC
editIn their first season, Philadelphia FC finished 5th in the NAL, earning them a spot in the quarterfinals versus Phoenix United. With a hat trick from Howard Garrison, Philadelphia won 4–2, advancing them to the semifinals where they would play Edmonton FC. With a combined nine goals (the most in a game in the 2022–23 NAL season), Philadelphia defeated Edmonton 5–4.
