I'm an old dog who's learning some new tricks, including creating Wikipedia pages, and editing those created by others. I'll share some personal facts with the community after I confirm that I've created this page properly.
I have worked in publishing most of my life, and that work has included a wide range of craft skills, including typesetting, writing, photography, editing and the droll business of marketing, distribution and sale of published works. My immersion in publishing started during the Vietnam War years, so I started in the underground press. I have worked primarily in magazine publishing from 1980 to 1995, and from 1995 to 2015 have been running a company that publishes data for public school district leaders, helping them turn their mountains of data into annual reports.
For now, I'll note simply that I was born in 1948, and grew up in the backyard of Stanford University in the San Francisco Bay Area. I now live (2014) in San Francisco. The sixties were formative years for me, and I hope to bring the collectivist spirit and a historian's eye to the contributions I submit.
