Anitha is an actor, dancer and film technician who is known for her character role in the Malayalam film Premam and her appearance in Bigg Boss (Tamil season 3). Anitha also hosted popular shows such as Cooku with Comali and Super Singer (Tamil reality show) on Star Vijay.
Early life
editAnitha was born on 9 December 1997 in Kochi, Kerala. During Bigg Boss (Tamil season 3) Anitha mentioned that she was brought up in a strict household. Life took a turn when she ventured into the Cinema industry. Her interest in performing and acting began just around the age of 11 and had no connections to the cinema. Anitha has completed studies in aviation and has driven fighter jets. Her first movie debut was Premam in 2016.
Apart from her Cinema work, she has also featured in multiple national dance shows and appeared on Star Vijay as a host for shows such as Super Singer, Kalaka Povadhu Yaaru?, and Cooku with Comali. After hosting two seasons in Cooku with Comali, now she has stepped down as a host due to time conflicts as well as problems with the cast of the show.
Film career
editAfter attending 85 auditions for movie character roles at the age of 17, she finally applied for a role in Premam with actor Nivin Pauly which was her first debut movie. Later, Parvathy Menon who at the time was an assistant director for the movie Premam, reached out to Anitha for a role in Menon's own film Charlie (2015 Malayalam film) with actor Dulquer Salmaan. She later got a cameo role in Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam in the song "Unnai Kaanadhu Naan" as a dancer. Anitha then signed for Poomaram, which was also Malayalam actor Kalidas Jayaram's first debut movie. The movie experienced delays in release and was released in 2020. It is also noted that she was supposed to play the lead role in the 2019 film Airaa, however, she was removed from the film after the film's crew got the availability of film star Nayanthara. Additionally, she was supposed to play Rajini's daughter role in Kabali but missed the role due to other film shoots at the time. During 2018, she signed a few films such as Vada Chennai, Kaala and Iraivi which were highly appreciated roles by film critics. Later, she signed 2 Tamil films in 2018 as lead Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal and Nerkonda Paarvai. Nerkonda Paarvai was released first, therefore, making it her first Tamil lead Debut film.
