Operations
editThe GoBike app is the only legal taxi ride-hailing mobile application in Bangkok, allowing GoBike to utilize the pool of legalised motorcycle taxi bikers to connect with the nearest passengers.
In Bangkok the motorbike taxi driver is referred to as a P'win, they are generally used for short trips. The GoBike app assigns motorcycle taxis to nearby passengers through their e-hailing app. Motorcycle taxis are generally found queued on many sois, or side streets, and the queues are regulated by Land Transport Authority, and can be seen wearing vests and have yellow number plates.
Bangkok locals generally only use motorcycle taxis when they need to get somewhere fast, as metered taxi-cabs can actually not only be more expensive for short trips but also slower than flat-rate motorcycles. Therefore, motorcycle taxi-drivers in Bangkok have built their reputation on delivering service as quickly as possible and tend to drive very fast and weave through traffic.
Using the same service, GoBike has created an on-demand delivery service with Go Messenger, allowing customers to to deliver parcels, documents and even groceries via GoBike motorcycle taxis.
Go Mart represents the GoBike’s collaboration with FamilyMart (Thailand), currently services cover the Bangkok Metropolitan area. The partnership uses GoBike Bikers to deliver their online orders to the customers.
Yet, GoBike boasts some 15,000 riders in the greater Bangkok area — the only city in Thailand where the group operates for now In December last year, the three year old company surpassed 500,000 bookings for its passenger and delivery services.
