Will Ludford is a Blues/Rock Guitarist, he was born in Kimmage Dublin Ireland on the 9th of May 1948.. he is the youngest son of Willie and Mary Ludford. his older brothers George and Patrick also play music.. his brother Patrick is a well known traditional singer.. their love of music comes from their father who was a drummer.
The family moved to the UK when he was 5 and lived on an American Air Base in Wing Buckinghamshire, here he listened to American Blues music being played by the airmen on the base. the family moved to a small cottage on Plantation road in Leighton Buzzard. His father found employment at Vauhall Motors Luton and this gave the family a chance to move to a larger house at 34 Albany Road leighton Buzzard.
Will Ludford has been playing guitar for some time, starting in his first band in Leighton Buzzard with school friends Barry Parsons, Tony Lathwell, Neil Janes, Pete Farley and Nigel Howlett. They played at local school functions and friends parties. They played music by Chuck Berry, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix etc. When Will left school he worked at Camden Motors garage serving petrol and saved enough to buy his first Fender Strat. For a while Will worked at the music shop which was in Bridge street in Leighton Buzzard, this was owned by Richard Watts , of Simms Watts amplification fame! here he often jammed with friends Art Noveau … who became Kajagoogoo, he also jammed with No 1 Reggae Singer "Ezeke Grey"...He then joined other local bands and became the guitarist in the Rock Band “Diamond Lil”, who did very well on the college circuit in the UK. John Stubberfield later replaced Will in the bands line up. Will also performed some session work at the now legendary Chalk Farm Studios in London. here he met and worked with the truly talented Alton Ellis and Sly and Robbie , very professional people and musicians… he played in a band in Buckingham with drummer Wally Roathe, who went on to be the drummer with No 1 chart band "Liquid Gold" Will Ludford also wrote the Hit Record "Indian Dancer" for Glam Rock band "Abacus" Will says that one of the highlights of his life was being at the Beatles Apple Headquarters in Saville Row, where he met George Harrison, who encouraged him to go on and further explore his music. he describes George as the nicest man he ever met in music.
In his career Will has worked with numerous well known bands and musicians such as Tiny Tim, Alton Ellis, George Harrison, The Barron Knights and was privilaged to have jammed with Jimi Hendrix.
His Album "Addicted" reached no.1 in the Reverb Nation Charts and 5 in the American Aiir radio charts and was voted best CD of 2009, he is humbled to have been voted best guitarist for 2014 by XLR RADIO Europe. Although Will Ludford has shared his life on the world stage..he is actually a very private person ..these days he is a recluse and lives in his home town of Leighton Buzzard. his music continues to be played on radio stations His music can be found on the Big Buzzard Record Label.
