Teaching long time ago in Africa was done by whites and because a few blacks managed to to do a better job than the white man, after undergoing a few lessons coupled with hardship and segregation. The white teachers earned more money than the black teachers. And when African's got Independence from colonialism. The few blacks that learnt or did better where recruited to teach others. Unfortunately due to following our colonial masters our Government would not pay much attention to teachers just like "the masters" did. To the point where it became voluntary to teach. since then a few teachers that would continue teaching our people continued to do so. Under a lot of hardship and voluntary works and where respected. And most government had no finances to pay the teachers so the trend continued in all parts of Africa. Until now that teachers are still looked down in a similar manner when it comes to payment. In addition to this most government recruited people who failed examination or had few grades compared to those going to university in the teaching service longtime ago those that became teachers were very intelligent. On contrary today we have a mixture of the capable and incapable due to a number of reasons 1. Colleges recruiting relatives who are not capable but want them to have a life. 2. Corruption 3. Mushrooming colleges that only want to make profit other than producing professional teachers. 3. Lack of transparency 4. Few jobs available people want to go for something with less years. 5. Old people who are in the administration have no future plan of improving education but are still carrying on with old tricks when the world is moving forward. Lesson plans, schemes of work bla bla . I could go on and on but the issue here is #Money Thank you for reading this #fiction yet fascinating
