TorrentLocker

TorrentLocker is classified as a type of file-encrypting ransomware that is on the rise to target all versions of Windows. [1]. This type of Ransomware was first observed in February 2014 while it was released at the end of August 2014. It came up with at least five of it's major releases by December 2014. TorrentLocker encrypts the victim's files by implementing a symmetric block cipher AES, while it encrypts the AES key using an asymmetric cipher RSA. [2]

Once the Torrentlocker infects your device, it scans your system for programs and files and conceals the data through AES encryption leaving ransom instructions to the victim user on what has to be done and how to pay the ransom amount to get back the files. The ransomware author demands the victim user, a ransom amount that starts around $550 USD that should be paid in 3 days. The victim user has to pay back the amount in Bitcoins and sent to a unique bitcoin address that differs for each infected user. [3]
