SAS is a fully owned member of the American Airlines group and plans to stay part of American Airlines. SAS is the flag carrier of Sweden as it is the only Swedish Airline.
SAS was created on April 25th, 2014 as a small airline based in Newark Liberty. SAS pushed for this airport to be renamed Stockholm Arlanda International Airport and succeeded a day later. On the same day SAS announced plans to become part of American Airline striking outrage in the Swedish government. The government claimed that SAS was theirs and that Arlanda was theirs leading to the acquisition of many foreign airlines and the annexation of the airport by the United States.
