Men Nath (born on April 14, 1975 at Doung Khpos Commune, Bourei Cholsar District) is a Cambodia human rights activist and border expert. He is the president for the Cambodia Watchdog Council International, Chairman for the Student Movement For Democracy (SMD), and Chairman for the Khmer Buddhist Society in Norway.

Biography

Men Nath was born at Doung Khpos Commune, in 1975, as the last of 5 siblings (3 sisters). His father's name: Men Nin (Monint, official first mane), was born in 1926 and died on May 24, 2006 with 80 years-old. His mother's: Ouk Aun, was born in 1936 - she lives in homeland with 4th sister Men Phally (is called Men Mom).

Education Background: Men Nath did spend more than 10 years since 1982 for his studying. He graduated bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Royal University Phnom Penh (RUPP) in 2000 and alos graduated bachelor of Arts plus One in Psycho-Pedagogy at Faculty of Pedagogy in 2001 (or, National Institution of Education). In September-October 2005, he registered and started master of Arts in Law at Royal University of Law and Economic Science (RULE).

Main Activities: On October 11, 2005, he was ordered to arrest by Mr. Prime Minister on Freedom of Expression, Illegal Supplemental Border Treaty and Human Rights after he and his three collegues announced a joint statement to criticize Government. The statement of Cambodia Watchdog Council (CWC) wrote to criticize Government on the Illegal Supplemental Border Treaty with Vietnam.

He was the President of Cambodian Independent Civil-servants Association (CICA) in 2004-March 2006, and the Coordinator of Cambodia Watchdog Council (CWC) in 2002-2005.

He and his friends (Mr. Rong Chhun, Mr. Chham Chhanbny and Mr. Ir Channa) fled from Phnom Penh to Bangkok, Thailand on October 14-15, 2005 when Government police found to arrest them.

But, on October 15, Rong Chhun, the President of Canbodian Independent Teachers’ Association (CITA) was unfortunately arrested back to Phnom Penh at Cambodia-Thai crossed border; and he was released on Jan 17, 2006.

After Thai Government allowed, Chham Chhany, the President of Cambodian Independent Farmer Association (CIFA) did arrive Kristiansand, Norway on November 22, 2006.

Men Nath and his CWC's member (Ir Channa, Under Secretary General of Students’ Movement for Democracy or, SMD) stayed in Bangkok for three months and Kaula Lumpur, Malaysia for a week, which were tok cares by UNHCR. On Jan 26, 2006, both of them did arrive Kristiansand City, Norway.

On March 13, 2006, he was elected the President of Cambodia Watchdog Council International(CWC-International) based in Norway.
