There is no such fact about the origin of dupcheshwor mahadev but there are certin mythologies that tend to answer the questions about the history of the origin of dupcheshwor mahadev. Accordung to a famous book Swasthani(a sacred book of hindus read in the month of magh) when Sati the wife of mahadev died, Lord shiva becam restless. He couldn't bear the pain. Lord Shiva goes to the place where sati died takes her corpse fromthere and starts to orbit the earth. He goes to evry place of the earth. During this process, several organs of Sati decay and drop at several places which become later become holy places.According to Swasthani brata katha(Swasthani) Dupcheshwor mahadev has been formed in this way.Another mythilogy that is common among the natices of this municiplity is that about 400 years ago. A Tamang boy lost his cow. He went to search his cow. He searched everywhere but didnot find his cow. Later when he went to Dupcheshwor mahadev's Temple, it was found that the cow was giving milk to the lingam(shila, linga). From this incident the temple was named as Dudeshwor mahadev but later was changed to Dupcheswhor Mahadev.
