David Francis (born 4 November 1986)[1] is an American author and filmmaker. He is best known for his debut novel The Waking Isle.

Brief Biography

David was born in Nacogdoches,[1] Texas. At the age of 4, his family moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas, then later to Sherwood, Arkansas, where he would spent most of his childhood. After graduating from North Little Rock High School,[2] he spent the next several years transitioning through a number of colleges including Stephen F. Austin University, Pulaski Technical College, Columbia College Chicago, and the University of Central Arkansas. In December 2011, he completed his college coursework at the University of Central Arkansas, and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Digital Film and Theatre the following spring.

Personal Life

David was married to Alexandra N. Calaway on 7 January 2012.[3] The two separated in August 2015 and filed divorced the following year.

Career

In 2013, two years after graduating college, David moved from Laurel, Maryland to Austin, Texas, where he landed his first feature film job as the Line Producer for the independent movie Shilo. When the Assistant Director dropped out of the film because of a scheduling conflict, David stepped into the role and performed the duties of both Line Producer and Assistant Director.
