'Competition
News 36 broadcasts in the same DMA as the local KTVO, ABC affiliate station. News 36 however is not really in competition with the network station. News 36 concentrates most of the broadcast on campus information, KTVO provides a great deal more national news coverage and broadcasts every night.
Quality standards
News 36 follows the RTNDA Broadcast style rules and has used these in conjunction with local and campus names to create a News 36 style guide.
News 36 also features an online site hosted by Truman State University. The site, News36.truman.edu, features the week's broadcast broken into clips of each story. In addition the web site also hosts the archives of old broadcasts and additional information.
News 36 is a member of the Truman Media Network (TMN); a coalition between the Index, KTRM FM and Detours to provide news coverage using all available media outlets.
