I am Nick. I was born in 1997 in Athens but I immediately left and was raised in Heraklion, Crete in Greece, currently live in Iași in Romania with my Moldovan girlfriend.
I have Greek and American citizenship. My maternal ancestry is from East Crete, namely from Sitia, and my paternal is from various Aegean islands including Leros, Hydra, Samos and Chios. Even my DNA results, indicate that I am 100% islander. I lived in Heraklion until 2015, when I moved to Patras to study Business. I did my army service in Rhodes, and in Crete. I served in artillery, infantry, airborne, and communication divisions.
I am a fan of Panathinaikos club, but I have also a soft spot for the teams from my city, namely Ergotelis and OFI. But I am not heavily interested in any sports, I don't really care that much.
I speak Greek, English and a bit German. I would like to learn Latin, brush up my ancient Greek skills, especially Koine Greek which is not that difficult for a native Greek speaker but still is hard, and maybe even some other ancient languages like Coptic.
It's difficult to define myself politically. I am generally liberal in economics, pro privatizations, in favor of smaller government and less taxation, like some aspects of the Republican party in the USA, but I am socially liberal as well, in favor of gay rights for example. I am in favor of restriction in uncontrolled immigration, but this doesn't mean I am principally against immigration. But it has to be done in a smaller scale, in order for the fabric and identity of the host country not to be altered. I used to vote the Recreate Greece party.
I consider myself agnostic. I grew up in an Orthodox Christian environment, my mother believed, my father didn't but always liked the history and theology from an academic perspective. I kinda like as well the Hellenistic religion.
I am interested in many subjects, including Medicine, which I currently study, Business and Economics, my previous study, Health Economics, and since I was really young I had a flaming interest in History, Geography and Political Theory. I love knowledge, but on the meantime I recognize that I tend to procrastinate and lose my focus easily.
Besides all this, I write as well, and I have finished two novels. Maybe one day I will publish them as well.
I guess my goal in life, besides making knowledge easily accessible and public, is to dwell further in the field of Health Management and Economics, and maybe one day run for a political office. We will see how this goes.
