BakerRisk began with the merger of Wilfred Baker Engineering, Inc. and Energy Chemical Risk Consultants, Inc. in January of 2001. Wilfred Baker Engineering was started by Dr. Wilfred Baker in 1984 carrying out engineering design and consulting work for companies worldwide. Energy Chemical Risk Consultants, Inc. was a process safety, risk management, and fire protection specialized company that was founded in 1989.


BakerRisk was created in January 2001 with the merger of Wilfred Baker Engineering, Inc. (WBE) an engineering design and consulting firm, and Energy Chemical Risk Consultants, Inc. (ECRC) a process safety, risk management, and fire protection specialist. BakerRisk is divided into three main sectors: Blast, Structures, and Process Safety.

Blast

The blast department is responsible for predicting and modeling the effect of explosions, such as blast pressures and impulses, and coming up with ways to prevent or mitigate the damage. The blast department has a testing facility located in Texas where they perform controlled explosions and gather data to better predict the effect of plant explosions. HAZOP
