A force field (Physics) is an area in which forces are exerted on particles in its space. These forces are represented visually with vector fields, where the arrows represent the direction of the force exertion on in a particular subset of space. In equation form, the vector field can be defined as , and if a particle were at the point ., the force exerted onto it would be . The forces involved in these force fields are non-contact forces, meaning that they can exert themselves onto particles without the need of physical contact. Such forces include, but are not limited to, gravitational forces, electrostatic forces, and magnetic forces.
