The Amerivision Song Contest 1982 was the twenty-seventh edition of the annual Amerivision Song Contest, organised by the American Broadcasting Union (ABU) and host broadcaster National Broadcasting Company (NBC). The edition was hosted in the Art Deco Junior Ballroom at Miami Beach Convention Center, in Miami, United States, as the country earned the right to host the contest by winning the previous edition.
Despite no newcomers, this edition broke the record at the time for edition with the largest amount of participating countries, with twenty participating nations, thanks to the return of Chile, Martinique, Netherlands Antilles, Paraguay and Suriname. The number was supposed to be even higher, as the American Virgin Islands, Panama and Trinidad and Tobago all intended to participate as well, but ended up having to withdraw due to budget restrictions. Venezuela opted to withdraw from the contest as well.
