Lane's Bridge, Fresno-Madera County Line. Image taken 1906-1908. Lane's Bridge was originally built across the San Joaquin River in 1889, running in an east-west direction and was the original bridge for Highway 41. The structure was damaged in 1917 when a large herd of cattle crossed it and again in 1937 due to high flood waters. It was demolished in 1940. On the east side of the bridge a community named "Bridge" was established along with a post office, which existed from 1902 through 1907. https://www.facebook.com/photos.from.Semas/photos/pcb.3359172774098756/3359167527432614/?type=3&theater http://www.gribblenation.org/2019/04/1889-lanes-bridge-location-old.html https://bridgehunter.com/ca/fresno/lanes/ https://bridgehunter.com/ca/madera/lanes/
