Introduction

edit

My name from birth is Nyssa Nikita Horkoff, however I changed my first name to Nikita when I was 6 years-old. I am finishing my third year in the Bachelor of Commerce program, majoring in Marketing Management, at the University of Guelph. This is my very first year living in Guelph, ON for the summer. I am hoping to continue my education by pursuing my Master's in Business Administration in 2013.

Personal Life

edit
Place of Birth
edit

I was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on March 2, 1990. I lived in Regina, Saskatchewan for three and a half years. My mother, brother, and I then moved to Toronto, Ontario in 1994.

Music Endeavours
edit

I received my very first guitar on my 9th birthday. My step-father put me in guitar lessons for two years. Later, I began writing my own music. When I was 13 years-old, I recorded my very first, fully-produced CD with Windward Music Productions. I had written 11 of the 12 songs. I have written over 100 songs since I began writing. Music is still a major part of my life, although it is only a hobby.

In order, my musical influences are:

  1. Avril Lavigne
  2. Taylor Swift [1]
  3. Shania Twain
  4. Dixie Chicks
  5. The Beatles

Sports
edit

A list of extra-curricular sports I participated in during middle school and high school include:

  • Soccer
  • Hockey
  • Basketball
  • Competitive Swimming
  • Volleyball
  • Tennis

I began competitive swimming when I was 8 years-old. I swam for 5 years for the Lakeshore Swim Club in Etobicoke, Ontario. At 9 years-old, my step-father put me in house league soccer and hockey teams. When I turned 10, I was playing rep soccer for the Etobicoke Hurricanes. In school, I joined the basketball and volleyball teams. I then pursued these sports outside of school playing for rep teams in Etobicoke. By grade 11, I had quit swimming, hockey, basketball, and volleyball, to focus on my education. I continued to play soccer until I broke my collarbone twice; once in December 2007, and again in May 2008. Unfortunately, I have not touched a soccer ball since, until starting to play recreational soccer in Burlington in 2013.

Education and Academic Career

edit

I attended Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School in Etobicoke, ON for my high school years. Although I am not religious, my parents felt it would "build character" to attend a catholic school and learn about different religions. I completed my high school diploma in three and a half years (graduating in February 2008). I was then accepted into the Bachelor of Commerce program at the University of Guelph. I began my first year in September 2008. I hope to pursue my education after I complete my undergraduate, studying my MBA (Master's in Business Administration) at the University of Guelph.

Hobbies

edit

When I was in middle school the best book I read was the Harry Potter Series. I began reading the series when I was 10 years-old and I could not stop. My favourite Harry Potter book was The Deathly Hallows during high school. Writing music has always been an escape for me from reality. It would allow me to stress less over petty problems, or even major issues with friends, school, or family. because of my sociable background (playing team sports), I enjoy spending time with people. Occasionally, I would also play video games on Nintendo Wii. I would mostly play Super Paper Mario.
