Description
editBaltic Coasts offers a HDTV tour around the coastline of the nine countries surrounding Europe's largest inland sea. Locations include the Bay of Kiel, the Hanseatic city of Lubeck, and Western Pomerania. The series features helicopter photography shot with a Cineflex Heligimbal (the same camera used in the Planet Earth series). Panoramic shots of steep coasts, charming towns, historical cities and nature spectacles contrast with warm-hearted profiles of individuals living on lonely islands or doing interesting things at sea or in coastal towns and cities.
Starting in Copenhagen, the route follows the Swedish coastline to the Aland Islands, and then to Finland. Following the ferry from Helsinki, it's across to Tallinn, Riga, on the Curonian Spit and, finally, to the Polish coast and Szczecin, Poland's seventh largest seaport.
In the United States, the series plays (and is frequently repeated) on HDnet.
