Dartford Orienteers

edit

Dartford Orienteers (informally known as DFOK) is an orienteering club based in South east London and North west Kent. DFOK has been in existence since the early 1970s when it was named Darwin Forest Orienteering Klubb after two schools, Charles Darwin and Forest Hill. As contact with the schools was lost and many orienteers started to ask where Darwin Forest actually was, the name was changed to Dartford Orienteering Klubb, keeping the original abbreviation DFOK.

Like many Orienteering clubs, DFOK opted to use "Klubb" (Swedish for Club) to keep links to Sweden where the sport originated.

In 2007, Croydon Orienteering Club merged with DFOK and in 2022, DFOK changed their formal name from Dartford Orienteering Klubb to Dartford Orienteers in an attempt to promote orienteering to younger age groups.
