Kawaiiconic
editAlison Jessica Jones (known professionally as Kawaiiconic or Kawaiiconic Ali) is an alternative fashion influencer, musician, and actress. She is known for her monochromatic fashion sense and influence in the Japanese fashion community. She gained recognition after appearing on Truly's online fashion documentary series, Hooked on the Look.[1]
Early Life and Career
editBorn and raised in Kenai, Alaska, Alison developed a passion for music and art from a young age. She grew up in a creative family alongside her twin sister, IgikoPop, and the duo often performed for the Kenaitze Indian Tribe, fostering a love for performing.[2]
Alison and her sister gained recognition as runners-up in a songwriting contest held by the Grammy Awards for young songwriters.[3] This recognition inspired Alison to pursue songwriting.
After graduating from high school, Alison enrolled at the University of Idaho, initially pursuing a degree in music before switching to art with a focus on digital media. During her college years, Alison contributed vocals to various online projects, including a promotional video for the unreleased Yandere Simulator.[4]
Alison began posting photos of her Harajuku-inspired monochromatic fashion on Instagram, which gained her a small but dedicated online following. She adopted the stage name Kawaiiconic.[5] As her Instagram popularity grew, she was featured on Truly's show Hooked on the Look, where she became known as the "Pink Icon."[1][6][7]
In 2021, Kawaiiconic appeared with her twin sister, IgikoPop, on Truly's Transformed in the episode titled "From Kawaii to Kardashian."[8] This episode aired shortly before Kawaiiconic moved to Japan.
Kawaiiconic moved to Japan in April 2021 and is currently based in Tokyo, Japan.
Media Presence
editDuring her time in Japan, Kawaiiconic took on various acting roles, including an appearance as an extra in the television drama 青天を衝(つ)け in episode 40.[9] Kawaiiconic also showcased her musical talents, performing the song Imagine a Tomorrow on the NHK Educational show えいごであそぼ Meets the World, which aired on 2024-03-20.[10] In addition to acting, she became an English language commentator for Konami's BEMANI Pro League.[11]
In October 2021, she was featured in The COMM in an article titled "Every Day is a Pink Day for Pink Princess Alison Jones," which highlighted her monochromatic pink aesthetic and influence in Japanese alternative fashion.[12]
Kawaiiconic also participated as a stylist and designer for Endigo on Drag Race Sverige, designing the look for the "Longstocking Extravaganza" maxi challenge in Episode 2.[13] She was also featured on the Japanese show YOUは何しに日本へ? (Why Did You Come to Japan?), where she was interviewed about her life in Japan.[14] Kawaiiconic serves as the creative director for Endigo's solo projects moving forward.
Personal Life
editIn 2023, Kawaiiconic announced on Instagram that she is dating Swedish musician and producer Endigo.[15]
