The Modern Alexandria Medical School at the University of Alexandria (Arabic: كلية طب بالاسكندريه) was established in 1942 as a branch of Cairo’s main medical school.
It was later changed to an independent Medical School. This University has a very strong research reputation on the global scale, like Heba Mostafa PhD MD’2004 an, Assistant Professor of Pathology at the prestigious John’s Hopkins Hospital who discovered a new form of COVID testing amidst the heat of the pandemic.
In 2018 the Egyptian government reduced the graduation time from 6 years to 5 years for the MBBCh diploma, 3 years clinical and 2 years basic sciences. The school is renowned for its surgical department.
The school offers programs for international students from France, Lebanon, Kuwait and Jordan amongst other countries.
