Also known as the "Best of the Free" project, the Helping Give Psychology Away project is a workgroup spearheaded by Dr. Eric Youngstrom, current president of the Society of Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology. Our goal is to build small groups to improve the information about psychology on Wikipedia. We aim to make it at the level of the best college textbook on the topic and helping clinicians, clients, and educators each find high quality resources quickly.
Vision
editOur medium-range vision is to bridge Wikipedia (and Google) to connect with the next generation of training and have the research feed into both streams.
Workplan
editOur goals are to:
- Create new pages;
- Maintain existing pages;
- Build templates for linking assessment page content to the next evidence-based assessment handbook.
Since our area of specialty is in mood disorders (most specifically mania), we will kickstart this workgroup by doing so.
Creation of new pages
edit- Build a template page. Suggested sections are listed here. Not all sections should be used for the creation of pages.
- Outline the process for filling out the template page to add assessment page content.
- Link freshly-created pages to Wikipedia and Wikiversity pages on the topic. This includes adding links on the Wikipedia source article (e.g. adding links to the General Behavior Inventory Wikipedia page from bipolar disorder).
- Link freshly-created pages to best-quality information outside of Wikipedia. Guidelines can be found here.
- Add links to "connector pages", such as Rating scales for depression.
Updating current pages
editUpdate "best of the free" pages. This section is split by disorder type:
Mania measures
edit- Child Mania Rating Scale (CMRS)
- Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ)
- General Behavior Inventory (GBI)
- Hypomania Checklist (HCL-32)
