Hypercom Corporation is a global company, whose business is to manufacture and distribute point of sale payment terminals, as well as related software and services.

The company was founded in Australia in 1978 and was primarily focused on Asia-Pacific markets until 1987, when it began expanding to the United States, South America, Central America, Europe, and the Middle East. The company completed an initial public offering of its common stock 1997, when it became listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

On April 1, 2008 Hypercom completed the acquisition of Thales Group's e-Transactions business.[2]

In 2009, Hypercom partnered with its two largest competitors, Ingenico and VeriFone, to found the Secure POS Vendor Alliance, a non-profit organization whose goal is to increase awareness of and improve payment industry security.[3]
