The master was asked one day by a visitor "about the famous hat collection ?"

He responded "these days there are more hats than collectors."

The visitor "But I have only seen two old. anyhow what use is a grand collection of hats?"

To which Slater replied "two braces for internal links one brace for external links". — slow day at the wiki.

Commentery
the master was telling the visitor that he should not obsess about hat collecting by inexperienced editors since there is always more hats to collect and in the process hat collectors eventually become productive editors. the visitor should not obses over them since they will sort themselves out in the end. Buerocrats and oversighters have prodigious hat collections but do the community a great service. Therefore it is time that the visitor find his own hat and try for his RfA, etc.
