DataXoom Corporation is an American company that operates in the enterprise mobility market. DataXoom has built a proprietary platform that allows enterprise customers to deploy and maintain larger scale mobility projects. The company provides access to 3G, 4G, LTE, and 5G connectivity from Tier 1 wireless carriers, including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile (Sprint), Rogers, and Telus.[1] DataXoom offers services only under the DataXoom brand and supports large-sized United States based businesses that deploy very specific or unique purpose-built solutions.  These solutions will require wide area connectivity (LTE/5G) and will include devices such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, routers and specialty devices.[2][3][4][5]

History

edit

DataXoom was founded in 2014 by Chris Hill and Rob Chamberlin in Pleasanton, California as mobility-as-a-service provider for large-sized businesses.[[6]]

In 2014, DataXoom partnered with Sprint and AT&T to offer LTE and Evolved High Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) network access to customers. DataXoom has since added Verizon, Rogers, Telus, and T-Mobile[7].  In 2016 DataXoom, on a limited basis, began offering international based services. In 2018, DataXoom launched a custom branded SIM that operates on the AT&T network. In 2020, DataXoom launched an eSIM on the Verizon network.

Products

edit

The DataXoom proprietary platform provides mobile data (voice and SMS) pricing options that are built for large enterprise organizations.  This platform allows enterprise organization to purchase services across several providers but in one custom designed pricing model built specifically for that solution. DataXoom also offers supplemental features via an extensive partner network.[8][9][10][11][12][13]These additional features include Mobile Device Management (MDM), wireless hardware (OEM)  and software (ISV). DataXoom launched its channel program to meet growing demand for mobile data and open revenue streams for channel partners including IT resellers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's)[14], and independent software vendors (ISV's).[15][16][17][18][19]

Reception

edit

Will Kelly, a TechRepublic writer and analyst,[20] experimented with DataXoom’s service in 3 different locations in March 2015. Kelly reported speeds consistent with AT&T in the areas he conducted testing. However, Kelly concluded DataXoom may face a challenge in competing against “household” enterprise mobility brands and businesses.[18]

In April 2016, DataXoom was awarded the "Enterprise Mobility - Best Enabling Technology" in Channel Vision's 2016 Visionary Spotlight Awards.[21]

AT&T Partner Exchange has recognized DataXoom as one of the 'Top Solution Providers for 2019' with the prestigious Cowbell award.[22]
