What is my race?
To be honest, I don't really know. My father puts his race as Suluk but many of my families on the father's side speak Simunul and Suluk.
My father no longer speak Suluk fluently but can converse in Simunul, because he was brought up by a Suluk-Dusun family who speak Malay.
Although my mother only start speaking Malay when she married my father, she still speaks Suluk with her relatives from Kampung Sim-sim, Sandakan.
My parents speak Malay at home so I and my brothers speak Malay but we are exposed to the Suluk language so can understand a few key words but cannot converse well. I and my brothers and sisters cannot understand or speak Simunul, but my cousins from my father's side at Kampung Bokara and Kampung Pukul speak both Simunul and Suluk.
My wife also puts her race as Suluk because both her mother and father, puts Suluk as their races. Actually she also has Visaya, Simunul and Arabic genes. She can speak Suluk and Simunul fluently.
