ROSEMARY HARRIS

edit

In the LC online catalog, the works of the British and American novelists who share the name Rosemary Harris are entered under separate headings: n 79056194 (Harris, Rosemary, 1923- ) and n 2007070264 (Harris, Rosemary; also covers another Rosemary Harris about whom no distinguishing information is available). We have no control over what records are retrieved in a WorldCat identities search. To report the problem to WorldCat, use their feedback form.

Talk: Rosemary Harris (writer)

The romance/suspense novels referenced above are not listed here. They are the recent works of Rosemary Simari Harris[4] --younger, American, not at Wikipedia. Now I see that the national libraries of U.S. and Germany separately need to sort this out for they separately conflate RSH with two different Rosemarys.
U.S. LC conflates the younger american RSH (author of its 2008 title) with British anthropologist who studied the Mbembe 50 years ago (author of its 1965 title).[5]
German DNB conflates the younger american RSH (author of its Publikationen #1-3) with our children's writer (author of its #4-16).[6]
WorldCat conflates all three authors at least in part[7] (and does not serve the URL associated with that LC record[8]).

ALTERNATIVE TO FORMAL NOTE

(From 1979 to 2002 the distinction was approximately annual, with 29 high commendations in 24-year period including Howker alone for 1985 and 1986.)
Cross was also a commended runner up twice, for Chartbreak (1986) and The Great Elephant Chase (1992).

Elidor ^ Since 1995 there are usually eight books on the Carnegie shortlist. According to CCSU, there were about 160 commendations of two kinds in 49 years from 1954 to 2002, including six for 1965.

Author names (female)

edit

Ten of the first fifteen authors to win the Carnegie Medal for British children's books were women. We have pages for nine of them, all under the names they used as children's authors. From our articles it appears that three were their full names (that is, we say nothing to suggest otherwise). None of the other six was a pen name in the sense that conceals identity, although we call one a pen name in the lead sentence, "X was the pen name of ...".

We currently handle them in six different ways and Mary Norton provided a seventh before I revised her lead paragraph this hour.

Storm (novella)

Both Heinemann 1985 and Egmont 2000s do Bananas books

Barron's American edition (1989)

possibly American re-prints of Bananas books

http://www.worldcat.org/title/storm/oclc/12637640/editions?start_edition=11&sd=asc&se=yr&referer=di&editionsView=true&fq= WorldCat shows that all editions retain the Marks illustrations, which fits the transitional description; text is primary but pictures are integral

http://www.amazon.com/Aminas-Blanket-Yellow-Bananas-Dunmore/dp/0778709841 One description posted by the bookseller Amazon calls the Yellow Bananas series "chapter books designed to help young readers make the transition from storybooks to text-based books."
