Gopinath Panangad (Dr.) is a renowned writer in Malayalam Language. He hails from Panangad, a suburban island of Ernakulam (Cochin), Kerala State, India. He was born on 10th March 1945. After his School Education at Panangad High School and Kumbalam High School he joined the Sacred Heart College, Thevara, for his graduation in Zoology and postgraduate studies in Social Service (DSS).He had a very illustrious and colorful student life in the Sacred Heart College. He was College Union Chairman, College Magazine Editor and Senior Under Officer in the NCC (Senior Division Infantry). He shined as a Novelist and Short story writer during his campus days itself; and a number of Novels were serialized in reputed periodicals. His literary contributions included CHAAKARA, CHITHRASALABHAM, PAVIZHADWEEP, SAGARAM SANTHAM, SMITHA, JYOTHIRMAYI DEVI, HARSHA and SCANDINAVIAN GREESHMAM (Travelogue). His English Books are STUDYONLINE, GRANTLINE. His novel Chaakara was made into a successful movie in Malayalam. He is an MSW and Ph.D in Social Work. He has bagged National Award in Broadcasting for the production of a Documentary followed by an overseas Training programme in Communication in England, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland. Later he has won P.N.Panikar Literacy Award and Lions International Gem Award for outstanding work in the area of literacy. He has started his official career as Field Reporter of All India Radio. Subsequently he held other positions as Director & CEO of Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority, General Manager of Yasoram Group, Private Secretary of Minister for Tourism and Project Consultant at Kerala Women’s Commission. After leaving Government Service he founded Projectvision, a Professional Consultancy Organisation and continued as its Director. He is also the Chairman of Pandit Karuppan Foundation, an organisation formed to promote the memory of Pandit Karuppan, Great Poet-Scholer-Social Reformer of Kerala.
