The 2017–18 season was the third season in the existence of Hereford Football Club and their first ever season in the Southern League Premier Division, the seventh tier of English football, following their promotion from the Southern League Division One South & West in the previous season. In addition to the league, the club also competed in the FA Cup and the FA Trophy.
Season review
editThis season saw Hereford win a third consecutive league title and promotion, this time to the National League North. They won the title with 113 points, 13 more than runners-up King’s Lynn Town. Hereford did not find themselves top of the league until mid-February, but a run of 14 wins from their final 16 matches, including winning the last 10 in a row, saw them secure the title with three matches to spare on 17 April, with a 1–0 away win against Biggleswade Town.
In the FA Cup, Hereford reached the second round proper, ultimately losing to EFL League One club Fleetwood Town after a replay.
FA Trophy
This season also saw the loan signing of future Republic of Ireland international and Premier League defender Dara O’Shea from West Bromwich Albion.
First-team squad
