The company was sold by its then owners, Spirent, to funds controlled by Doughty Hanson & Co for £289m in 2006.[8] It was then the subject of an initial public offering in March 2013.[9] In September 2013 Doughty Hanson & Co sold a further 20.9% stake in the company for £119.25m.[10]
In July 2015 Delphi Automotive made an offer to buy the company for $1.7 billion.[11] Upon completion, HellermannTyton will become part of Delphi's Electrical/Electronic Architecture segment.[12]

In September 2013 Doughty Hanson & Co sold a further 20.9% stake in the company for £119.25m [15]. The company subsequently floated on the London Stock Exchange, becoming a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.[3] Following a successful $1.7 billion offer [16] in July 2015 by Delphi Automotive, HellermannTyton became a constituent part of Delphi's Electrical/Electronic Architecture division in December 2015.
