Kia ora tātou katoa - kā mihi nui kia koutou [warming greetings to everyone and thanks for viewing my user page] in the Ngāi Tahu dialect of the indigenous Māori language of Aotearoa New Zealand).
I am an academic and political scientist at the University of Otago based in Dunedin, New Zealand.
I have a strong interest in New Zealand electoral politics and political parties; state sector reform; comparative constitutional systems; and international relations with a particular focus on China's foreign policy, democracy and human rights issues, and the Hong Kong, Tibet, cross-straits (Taiwan), and Xinjiang (treatment of the Uyghurs) situations.
