Pernille Tønnesen
I am a biology master student with a big interest for marine mammals and physiology. Throughout my time at Aarhus University and University of Tasmania, I have sought to gain knowledge about marine organisms and ecosystems and to get practical experience in designing and conducting biological studies.
Working as a volunteer for Marine Environmental Research Association, Portugal, two consecutive summers provided me with my first hands-on insight on how cetaceans are studied in the wild.
As part of my undergraduate studies, I conducted captive studies of the dive response of harbor porpoises at Fjord&Bælt, Denmark.
In 2016, I will start my master thesis on foraging behavior of sperm whales. This work is conducted in collaboration with Marine Bioacoustics Lab at Aarhus University and The Dominican Sperm Whale Project.
