Hi! I usually write about (the intersection of) computers, security, politics and history. I also focus on styleguide compliance, mostly MOS:ACROTITLE, MOS:SOB and MOS:AVOIDBOLD and rename pages based on WP:COMMONNAME. Since making my account, I made 10,000 edits. I added this fact as my 10,000st edit!

WP:UNUSUAL includes a lot of fun reads, including four articles that I started: Mikhail Gorbachev Pizza Hut commercial, McDonald's ice cream machine, abolition of time zones and Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Just Made A Great Point

I have my own TODO list and sandbox.

Style

edit
  • MOS:AVOIDBOLD and MOS:REDUNDANCY: don't write weird sentences in the lead because you think the name must be bold and therefor can't contain links. If the article title is composed of words that have their own article, this is likely the case. Even some WP:FA don't adhere this policy. I try to fix this.
  • MOS:NOTES

Essays

edit
  • WP:YWAB: Yes, Wikipedia is Biased
  • WP:AVOIDCYBER: an essay I wrote, arguing that you should avoid cyber

Other

edit
  • The word 'controversial' should be avoided on biographical articles describing democratically elected politicians. It's part of their job to be controversial, since they don't tend to get 100% of the vote.
  • On biographic articles, when years are used in section headers, they should be put in front of the rest of the section, not afterwards. Makes it easier to compare and skim through.
  • Librsvg bugs
  • I prefer using the word 'primarily' over stating that there are exceptions.

Hatnotes

edit
edit
{{Interlanguage link multi|Englishtitle|langcode|3=Foreigntitle}}

Sometimes this doesn't work in author-link= attributes or something like that, this is a workaround:

:lang:Article

{{Expand Languagefull|topic=articlecategory|date=|Articletitle}}

Language expansion in reference

edit

the author-link1 parameter cannot be interlanguage linked. However, author can. Example:

{{Cite book |author=[[:de:Erich Preuß|Preuß, Erich]]

Because it requires custom formatting (Last name comma first name), the regular interlanguage link template is not usable in this case.

Multiple images

edit

If you don't mind the border, see the example at Obama tan suit controversy. Otherwise, use the one at Disney logo. There is also the possibility of combining both images into a single one and reuploading that to Wikimedia Commons, as done for the infobox in ANT catalog

{{multiple image
 | background color = #FFFFFF
 | align = right
 | direction=vertical
 | total_width = 320
 | image_style = border:none;
 | border = infobox

 | image1 =
 | alt1 =
 | caption1 =

 | image2 =
 | alt2 =
 | caption2 =

 | image3 =
 | alt3 =
 | caption3 =
}}
