The 10th Communications Squadron (10 CS) is a communications squadron of the United States Air Force that performs communications functions at the United States Air Force Academy as part of the 10th Mission Support Group and 10th Air Base Wing.
In the early 1990s, the squadron served with the 10th Tactical Fighter Wing / 10th Air Base Wing at RAF Alconbury in the United Kingdom until the wing was inactivated in October 1994.
When the 10th Air Base Wing was reactivated on 1 November 1994 as the support wing for the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado, the 10th Communications Squadron was also reactivated, taking over communications support duties from the 7625th Communications Squadron.
Composition
editThe Operations Flight operates and maintains the Air Force Academy's $35-million educational and military networks in support of more than 9,000 users, coordinates planning and implementation of network technical solutions and upgrades and protects the network by detecting and eliminating malicious and unauthorized activity.
The Plans and Resources Flight manages communications and information systems planning, integration and implementation and quality assurance for 10th Communications Squadron contractors, as well as information assurance services and communications and computer security.[1]
