Etymology

The word "PogingJuan", is derived from two terms, "pogi", which means "handsome", and "Juan dela Cruz", who is often used to represent the "Filipino everyman". PogingJuan simply means, "handsome Filipino". Yeah, I am.

About me

I am a potato under the guise of being a Wikipedian editor.

I was born in Quezon City, Philippines (which is currently led by another potato and the king of all potatoes). I was fortunate enough that my family could afford me private education during my early childhood, but I am more prouder to say that I have studied in public schools and a state university, where many opportunities have opened up.

I graduated high school at Manggahan High School, located in Pasig. I am currently taking up Journalism at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

I am an adventure enthusiast. The farthest I have traveled within the country so far are Vigan, Ilocos Sur on the north and Calapan, Oriental Mindoro on the south. The farthest over-all is Singapore.

This editor is politically conscious even outside of the Wikipedia world, engaging in civil society and student activism. He highly encourages every Filipino citizens to reject any forms and signs of tyrannical rule!

Contributions in English Wikipedia

Back in my middle childhood, when my family decided to buy our first-ever desktop computer, a great-uncle had introduced me Wikipedia as a source of information. Since then, like many students, I've used Wikipedia to find answers for my homeworks. Eventually, I became a regular reader of the free online encyclopedia until in April 28, 2014, when I learned that Wikipedia is editable. It was not all contributions between 2014 and 2016. In fact, on that period, I have vandalized and blanked pages several times that I needed to create several accounts to escape block.

It was on the creation of this account, where I committed myself to improve Wikipedia with complying its policies and guidelines. Since then, I have contributed over 2000 edits and created over 30 articles. I'm interested in any kind of topic under the sun and beyond but my English Wikipedia contributions have shown that I have delved myself on Philippine-related articles, especially politics and governance. Currently, I am a rollbacker and pending changes reviewer.

This editor is also proud that he has created Wikipedia articles about out-of-this-world Filipino satirical trends, such as Suntukan sa Ace Hardware and International State College of the Philippines, and successfully defended these articles from their respective deletion nominations.

If you have some comments regarding my contributions, you can leave a comment on my talk page.
