Ron Kennell

(May 30, 1970) is a Canadian actor, writer, and director. Born in Stratford Ontario, Kennell graduated from the classical theatre conservatory at George Brown College, in Toronto, in 1992. After a decade of working in Toronto’s Independent theatre scene and with two Dora Mavor Moore Award Nominations (best actor), he joined the Company at The Stratford Festival of Canada where he spent 6 consecutive seasons . 2009 at the beginning of his two-year residency as a company member in the National Arts Centre English Theatre Company, Kennell began writing what would become feature film Dr Cabbie (2014) which, with writers Vinay Virmani.

While appearing alongside Kit Harington in Pompeii, Kennell also wrote, directed and co-produced the Bell Media BravoFact short film Reveille which lost its nomination for a Golden Sheaf Award to Robert Lepage’s Thomas - at the Yorkton Film Festival, 2014.

Kennell returned to Shakespeare and The Stratford Festival in 2018 and in 2019 he appeared in Wajdi Mouad’s English Language debut of Birds of a Kind. In March of 2020, Kennell was in rehearsal for Richard III and All’s Well That Ends Well when Covid-19 shuttered the Festival Theatre for over a year.

Kennell continues to write, and perform in film and television, has a recurring role in Apple+ series SEE. A fan of video games his voice capture and body capture can be seen in such Ubisoft franchise hits as Assassins Creed Unity and Syndicate, and Far Cry Primal.

His children’s books The Queen and The Rock, Jenny Wren’s Travels: Making Some Friends, Petey and Grace Making Friends at the Fox Farm are registered at the Library and Archives Canada.
