725 Communication Squadron, located in Glace Bay, NS, home to Marconi Towers and the first wireless transmission, specializes in tactical and strategic communication, employing voice, electronic, and telecommunications systems. The mandate of the unit is to provide individual and collective support to Canadian Forces operations, both domestically and internationally. Many members of the unit have served on NATO[2] and UN[3] peacekeeping missions around the world. The unit also provides communications support to the Army Reserve.
History
editIn 1987 a detachment of 721 Communication Regiment was established in Glace Bay, NS, to provide communication support to the Militia units in the Cape Breton Area. It was through the hard work of LCol J. Addicott that the unit was established.
