The UK Council of Research Repositories (UKCoRR) is a professional organisation, open to administrators and managers of Open Access repositories in the United Kingdom.

History

edit

UKCoRR (pronounced UK-Core) was founded in 2007 as an output of the JISC funded SHERPA Plus project. It is a non-fee paying membership organisation limited to those individuals managing or working directly for open access digital repositories in the UK. Initally the organisation was managed by SHERPA, but in 2009(IS THIS RIGHT?) it was formally handed over to be run by a Committee drawn from the membership. The main activities of the organisation are the maintencne of a closed membership-only email discussion list, organisation of annual/biannual professional development workshops and an information dissemination focussed blog.

While funding for early events was provided by SHERPA, subsequent to the formation of the Committee UKCoRR has had to rely on support from location hosts, generally a UK University, in order to facilitate their training agenda.
