Legend of Zelda link==
It seems to be working for me now- it may just have been that you pasted the wrong link into the article, or the page you linked to redirected, which wasn't Wikipedia. EVOCATIVEINTRIGUE TALKTOME | EMAILME | IMPROVEME 18:05, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

- Qho,
- I can't actually remembering there not being a Wikipedia (so I've probably been editing for too long!) but I registered in Spring this year.
- The "well, almost" comment about my gender is a (very weak) attempt at humour, and since it was one of the first edits I made I've kept it. I prefer British spelling (obviously- the word "math" shouldn't exist!), but agree that articles on American topics should be written using American spelling, and am happy to flick between them when required.
- To add a picture to your page (or, indeed, most Wikipedia pages), try this:
[[Image:WikiThanks.png]]
- ...which should produce:
- Thanks for the video, it was intriguing.

Thanks ==
Thanks for all the...err...stuff! Take a look at the introuduction and tutorial- these should give you an idea of how to start editing articles or even creating your own. Happy editing!
Remember that some users may consider lots of images and text on their page "vandalism", despite the fact they're supposed to assume good faith.
Once you've made some serious edits to other articles, you'll be ready to join Esperanza, a Wikipedia community which I have a feeling you'll love!

Zelda Article ==
I looked at your contributions and can't see where you've edited the Zelda article. Post the link to me and I'll take a look though. EVOCATIVEINTRIGUE TALKTOME | EMAILME | IMPROVEME 18:14, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- I took a look at it- the external link you posted seems fine to me, but someone obviously objects for some reason. The best thing you can do is find out who reverts your link and in a civil manner ask them why they keep deleting your link.
- There was something in the edit summaries about GameFAQs not wanting their link in the Wikipedia article, but I can't see why- there's nothing mentioned on the talk page about it either.

Click the "history" link at the top of the article's page. From there you will be able to see the list of people who have edited the article, with the most recent editors at the top.

External links == Please refrain from adding external links that do not significantly contribute to articles, game guides are at best trivial. For a complete list of criteria, see WP:EL. OSP 16:18, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
External links==
Take a look here, at point 6: I think you could argue that your link adds information that would be too detailed in the article itself. Point this out on the article's talk page if you're sure the link does, and perhaps try telling the other user this. Obviously, there are a lot of Game FAQs on the Worldwide web, and some articles do suffer from too many external links, but your link seems a reasonable resource to add to me.
Also, take a note of dispute resolution, which may prove helpful if this continues.

I appreciate the smiley! Is there a way to reduce the size? I love it but would like to scale it down somewhat. Anyway, thanks for brightening a buzy day. --CTSWyneken(talk) 15:32, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Qho, the above method should work here.EVOCATIVEINTRIGUE TALKTOME | EMAILME | IMPROVEME 15:40, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Smile at others by adding {{subst:Smile}} to their talk page with a friendly message.
Text colour==
Sure, it's easy when you know how:
<div style="align: center ; padding:2em; solid 30px black; background-color:black;">
'''[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Qho&action=edit§ion=new Please click here to leave me a new message.]</div>
That's the code for your page before I altered it: it sets the text to align centrally, adds a little padding and changes the background colour to black among other things. All you need to do to the style
part is add color: colourname;
- to get the text white I added color: #FFFFFF
, as #FFFFFF
is the hexadecimal colour for white. You could also have used white (color: white;
).
To turn a small amount of text a certain colour, you can use the font
tag. For example, adding:
Some text here. Some text here. <span style="color:red">Some text here.</span> Some text here.
gives:
- Some text here. Some text here. Some text here. Some text here.

- Yeah, you want to remove the messages from your talk page. I usually just cut and paste from one place to the other. Alphachimp talk 15:03, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Archiving==
Qho, to start archiving your talk page, just go to a new page, such as User:Qho/Archive July 2006 A and move all of the conversation you want archiving to that page. It may also be a good idea to link to the archives from your talk page so you don't forget where they are.
EVOCATIVEINTRIGUE TALKTOME | EMAILME | IMPROVEME 12:40, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'll field this. DON't just click the move button at the top. Just cut and paste the messages onto the archive page. alternatively, you could just use Werdnabot. Alphachimp talk 14:23, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, the word "move" was misleading: I actually meant cut and paste it. You can't personally block editing to your archive pages, but could request an admin block the pages. This is probably unnecessary, though: most users just leave a note at the top of the page requesting that any new messages are left on their talk page rather than in the archive, and if a user does vandalise your page it's easy enough to revert it!
EVOCATIVEINTRIGUE TALKTOME | EMAILME | IMPROVEME 15:30, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think it's worth requesting protection for a page that is not being vandalised. Protecting a talk page prevents legitimate edits, such as template replacement, which could possibly occur after the page has been protected. I don't think an admin will protect your talk archive page (and if he did, you wouldn't be able to edit it either.) Alphachimp talk 15:43, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

You still haven't stated what your problem is and why are you so vehement about it. I do not tend to pay attention who use such means of "verbal" intervention. You are way out of line! ==
This is unacceptable. You should know better than to break WP:CIVIL so egregiuosly, especially since you are complaining about this IPs behavior so much. If you continue to make thinly veiled threats against this user I will ask for input on the Admin noticeboard, which you are already familiar with. Wikipedia can't function when its editors feel threatened. It certainly doesn't make people any less likely to lash out to say that you want to kill them. I will not warn you again to stop escalating the conflict. If you can't be civil to this IP directly, please use the appropriate channels at WP:DR to get someone else to step in and help mediate.—WAvegetarian•(talk) 22:59, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- With regards to that edit, I was fairly certain that you didn't actually want to kill them, however that is what your statement said. I have made similar statements myself about people as an expression of frustration, but you mustn't post it on Wikipedia. I know you said it to someone else, but I found it and the IP may as well. You are free to express frustration to other editors via email and there are looser restrictions on what you can say in the Wikipedia IRC channels, but you must remain extremely civil while on the site. Don't let others provoke you into loosing your cool. I hate to sound like a mom, as I am young and male, but the old phrase "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." is a great thing to keep in mind. It will make everyone happier...I just saw your apology. Thank you very much for working to deescalate the situation. I am leaving what I wrote earlier intact as I think it is good advice and good things to keep in mind. I have seen people get so upset over incivility that they left the project, so I take it rather seriously. I hope the IP responds in kind. If you need someone to help mediate, consult with or anything else, please don't hesistate to ask me on my talk page or through email.—WAvegetarian•(talk) 23:32, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Alright, alright. I'm here already ==
You don't need to post multiple times on my talk page, just wait till I wake up. :) I will leave a note on his (?) talk page. I know that you have made an effort to work things out, but your IP tracing and cyber sleuthing isn't impressive enough to impersonate the FBI. At the bottom of his user talk page there is a link to the IP information, which by the way isn't necessarily correct or related directly to him. Please calm down and sit tight for a moment while I leave him a message and wait for a response.—WAvegetarian•(talk) 16:36, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Your dealings with User:89.32.1.82 ==
You're both in violation of WP:CIVIL already. I suggest that both of you drop the matter immediately or your editing privileges may be revoked. Thank you, Misza13 T C 16:43, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Advice ==
Qho, I'd advise you just drop the matter. If you see a problem with an editor, just leave a warning. Beyond explaining what is wrong, don't engage the editor (believe me, it is NOT worth the blood pressure). If the editor continues to be a problem, put it on the admin vandalism noticeboard and let them deal with it. Under no circumstances try to figure out who a person is or try to bring stuff that goes on here into the real world. The lives of some users have been made miserable by such movement from wikipedia into the real world.
As far as friendship goes, not everyone here is going to be a friend, no matter how nice you are. It is impossible to do with an IP address. So, let the fellow or gal go away. After all, this is an encyclopedia, not a club.
Does that help?--CTSWyneken(talk) 16:47, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Please stop vandalizing user page and user talk pages. Please be warned that this sort of behavior can, and often does, lead to permanent bans from Wikipedia. Thanks. Ptmccain 17:47, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- I am referring to the nonsensical stuff you put on CTS Wyneken's page, and splattering smiley faces all about, in addition to other materials you have put on people's talk pages. [1]. Removing it is fine, but you should not put up junk on peole's talk pages like this to begin with. Please be advised that this is not acceptable behavior on Wikipedia. I will pursue this with the appropriate administrators if you continue this. Thanks. By the way, the color scheme you have chosen for your discussion page makes it very hard to read any links or user id. Consider changing the background to white or some much lighter color. Thanks.Ptmccain 18:36, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Please be aware that this matter has now been turned over to Wiki administrators for their attention. I sincerely regret that you have chosen not to pay attention to helpful warnings and advice. Please also consider making yourself more familiar with proper style and formatting conventions on Wikipedia, as well as general etiquette standards. - I've removed the block, it's nearly up anyway. Getting angry for any reason is no excuse, we expect editors to behave in a mature and constructive manner. I suggest if you find yourself getting wound up again you find some other way of dealing with it, it maybe best to take a short break of your own accord rather than having one forced on you through a block. --pgk(talk) 17:39, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Fitting in with the community ==
Hey Qho, I saw a notice on some of the review boards relating to you, and would like to help you become a more productive editor on the project. I believe there are two primary concerns worth looking over - first, your userpage resembles a personal homepage, with very little to do with Wikipedia. It's important to note that Wikipedia is a project to make an encyclopedia -- there are plenty of places to keep personal webpages that I can direct you to if you're interested. On Wikipedia, it's much better to keep your userpage project-focused. Second, there's the concern that you show little or no interest in editing articles so far, only having edited one article but having made many edits to talk pages. Wikipedia is not meant to be a cool place to hang out -- it's part of a project to get things done. It would be great if you started working more on articles and far less on your userpage, and it would be a show of good faith (but is not necessary) if you were to trim yo ur userpage down to something more reasonable and usual for what we have here. If you have any questions on how better to fit into the community or about my role, drop me a note. Take care. --Improv 19:19, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- One great way to get started with Wikipedia is to follow links to Special:Randompage, which is a special page that takes you to a random page on the encyclopedia. Often there are typos, sentences with poor grammar, or other problems. If you do that and fix the problems, you'll eventually start to notice more substantial edits you can make, once you get the feel of how pages typically look and sound. --Improv 19:29, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Good job! That's a good start to what will hopefully be a long, productive, and fun involvement in the project. --Improv 19:45, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
