I was not born with the name quartet-man, it was quartet-boy. ;) I am a music director for church, have had many years of retail experience (regrettably) and am a huge music fan, in particular male quartets such as the Oak Ridge Boys, Cathedrals, Gold City, Stamps Quartet, Gaither Vocal Band, Singing Americans, and to a lesser degree the Imperials and Kingsmen. Of course I like many more. I also like mixed groups and trios etc. I do like country and pop music, can find merit in most styles even if they are not my cup of tea. Bluegrass for instance takes skill to play, but I have trouble with the nasal vocals. :)
I hope someday to get back and finish a website devoted to many of the groups above. It got interrupted when I filled in for my predecessor at church while holding down a full time job. I have gotten back to it a little since then, but lost a lot of reference data on my computer as well as having been real busy establishing myself and plans at church and have recently taken up myspace and here.
I am pretty involved at the Oak Ridge Boys message board (but nowhere near as much as in the past), and three other southern gospel boards, as well as occasionally at other boards.
I sing, play piano and a little guitar. I have collected recordings of the Oaks since around 1982, and later their gospel stuff. I have collected many of the other groups starting around 1987.
