About Me

My name is Quinn and I am currently a Running Start student. I enjoy cheer leading at my high school, playing the piano, listening to music, attending school events, and going on walks.

My Wikipedia Interests

Some of my Wikipedia interests include: various historical events like the Cuban Missile Crisis, which occurred in Cuba, funny Wikipedia articles, historical figures, locations, movies, music, concepts I don't quite understand fully such as inflation, and pretty much whatever pops into my head. I really enjoy the section of Wikipedia where it shows what happened on certain days throughout history, as well as the photo of the day. Although I do appreciate the volunteers who work on this website, I am not sure I will be participating in that type of thing on here. Viewing articles is enough for me.

Article Evaluation

As someone who plays a musical instrument, I find learning about different eras of music interesting and helpful in developing my musical abilities and knowledge. Although there are many eras throughout history that are equally as important to music, my favorite is the Romantic era. I visited the Romantic Music article on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: The article's neutrality, age, and structure.

Neutrality

The article includes some words that would suggest the editor favors certain Romantic composers. However, it is more of a world wide accepted quality of those composers, so I have a hard time clocking them as "biased" necessarily.

Age

Since the Romantic era happened in the 18th century, there aren't really any more current occurrences with that time. This article did a good job making sure the citations are up to date. All of the links works and none of the sources seem to be random or unreliable.

Structure

The structure of this article is decent enough. I appreciate the background information being first to make the remaining reading experience more enjoyable. It is always nice to have a little bit of background before diving into a topic. In my head, it would make more sense for the traits specific to the era to be put before the composer section of the article because then you could think about what kind of traits go with the certain composer based on music one might have heard.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would give this article an 8/10. If I were to just stumble across this article and not be critiquing it or trying to find "flaws" it would get the job done in teaching me a little bit more about this era of music. Additionally, on a surface level, there were no major mistakes. It did not go against Wikipedia rules, so there were only a couple personal critiques I would have done differently if I were to have written this article.
