RAWsb is an Ecospere system of Work by Robert Travis Wilson. Born 04/07/1960 in Santa Barbara, Ca. , at St. Francis Hospital. Julia Child was also born at this Hospital, and Robert would later in his life get to know her, and even cook for her.
RAWsb is initials for Robert Amsterdam Wilson , Santa Barbara. The reason Robert
came up with AMSTERDAM as his Online middle name is because of another Robert Wilson who was a Worldwide known ecentric Artists that flooded the Internet with his name, garning ALL of the first Spots on just about ANY Top Page on GOOGLE for Robert Wilson. Only way to get his name above this Second RW online...
Robert T Wilson was born and raised in Santa Barbara, Ca. with a few years living
in LA, at a few different homes there, last one being on Redf(v)ern?, which was RIGHT in the landing path, and nearby LAX.In 1965, his family of both parents, 2 Brothewrs, and 2 sisters, moved back to Santa Barbara to a 2 room tiny Home on the eastern end of Anapamu St..
Robert's father was William Travis Wilson, who worked for the local Santa Barbara
Yellow Cab Company as a driver. Now, years later I found out my Father was quite more interesting than I ever expected. He was one of the Highest Recruited Basketball Players out of Burnett High, Texas, in the South of US in 1955. Well over 50 Colleges sent him Letters to try to get him to play for them. He was 6'6" tall, and could shoot right and left handed, and built like a tank. He was always called Tex, Dude, and even the Jolly Green Giant.
Robert went to my Kindergarden School at 5, called Jefferson Elementary. One day that
School would become the first Campus for the World renowned, now closed Brooks Institute of Photography.
Robert used to climb the hill across from us on Anapamu to go to this school, which
was a steep steep uphill climb for a 5 year old. NOT much thinking on the part of my mother and father. Until 1 day they decided to actually start giving me a ride to school after I brough home a 4' Brown Snake(alive) to show them what Robert had found on what was I guess my last trip walking down that mountain side.
Next we moved to one of the greatest little cities on Planet earth. Although Robert did
not know it at this time in his life. That City was 17 miles south of Santa Barbara. Carpinteria, Ca.. "Safest Beach in the World" is is motto even today.
Robert flourished in this perfect on the surface town. LOTS of racism was simmering
in and around the hispanic family imigrants kids that were brought here, as their parents were doing most of the agricultural jobs Carpinteria was famous for. Like Avacado's, Lemons, and Flowers. Massive amounts of flowers. ...and the largest Production thru the 70's of Tulips outside of Holland. Those same Dutch families that used to grow all the flowers, started in recent past to Grow the first LIVING LETTUCE crops until recently. Now they also grow massive amounts of Marijuana.
Robert pretty much stayed focused on his own childhood developements, interets.
He spent about 1-2 weekends a month on Camping trips into the Calicornia Mountains from the Los Padres Mountains, to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, including walking the 210 Mile Joun Muir Trail from Yosemite, Ca. to Bishop, Ca..
Robert also played just about every sport he could get his hands on. Focusing
mostly on Tennis, and Basketball in High School. He was Captain of the Carp HS Tennis team for 2 years(Jr. and Sr.) and was 3rd in his High Schools Southern California Division. He was beat out by the 2 TOP TENNIS HIGH SCHOOL DOUBLES TENNIS PLAYERS IN CALIFORNIA'S HISTORY! Robert's LUCK tthat these 2 guys were both from Catholic families, and BOTH went to Bishop High School in his Division of Sports. John Sanford, and Jacques Manset . They BOTH started playing Tennis at 4-5 years old, and had the benefit of Tennis Camps their whole lives. Robert had a used racket, some used balls he would find at Tennis courts and a 30ft high Basketball Centers outside wall to hit against, teach him.
At age 15 though, Robert started teaching Tennis Professionally with Michael Koury
who famously was Billy Jean Kings 1st Tennis Coach. Michael did help Robert with his serve.
All the while, from 15 years old on, Robert started working after school, and on weekends
as a cook from 1975-1981. At some very nice places around Santa Barbara, even for the Famous Norbert, of Norbert's, and Norbert and Brigita's. He was Julia Child's favotite Continental French Chef in the US at that time.
In 1981, Robert was hired to Create the First Menu's of the Wine Cask Restaurant and gave this
now famous institution, its life and reputation as one of the BEST Food and Wine Restaurants of the California Cuisine era, between LA and SF. He cooked there thru 1983. Robert also during this time created the now Infamous, and highly touted by the WINE SPECTATOR, "The Meet The Winemaker Dinner Series". This series changed the way most all Wineries present their Winemakers as artists now. (1960-1983)
