I chose to compare the wikipedia pages on the pancake for both English and French. The English page undoubtedly had much more information on the pancake in comparison to the French page. On the English page, the history of the pancake is discussed in great detail and how it is made. It then goes as far as to explain different topping that people add to pancakes as well as regional varieties of pancakes. The English page lists pancake restaurant chains and even describes "pancake day". The French page for the pancake is almost non-existant. There is little information about the history of the pancake, although slight details are given, and is immediately followed with the introduction of the crepe, which is the French version of a pancake. There seems to be bias toward the pancake in favor of the crepe from the lack of information and distinction presented between a pancake and crepe.
The French page for the pancake also had a heading named "In culture", for which a short bit of completely false information was written. It followed: "The Pancakes are a family of gnomes invented by Terry Pratchett in his trilogy of gnomes. Deemed treacherous and greedy, they are almost completely decimated during the Great Combustion". I thought this was pretty funny, but the fact that it has not been edited out of the article suggests that the article is not well monitored and unimportant in France.
I chose to compare Pancakes in the English and French because I am aware that the French favor the crepe and figured the information would be lacking and perhaps biased. I did expect there to be slightly more information on the French page, so this was surprising, but overall I was not surprised that there was little information. I guess I can say I would expect there to be false statements written on the page since the French would not regard pancakes as important.--Ryenocerous (talk) 15:02, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
