For my articles I decided to compare the English and Japaneses versions of the Wikipedia articles about Pizza. I choose this topic because its a international food and I wanted to see how Americans understanding of pizza compares to other country's around the world. I specifically choose japan because pizza was only introduced to them very recently and I thought they would have a unique perspective.
The English version as you can probably guess is very long and detailed. It discusses the history of pizza and the traditional styles of pizza like Italian, Neapolitan and Lazio. It then goes into detail over the global views on pizza around the world and then it goes into details about frozen pizza. It then goes into how pizza is good for you and how it is bad for you. The Japanese version has basically the same version of the history and the styles of pizza but it also goes into great detail on the styles of pizza and how they are classified. It talks about how pizzas are classified by shape, region and ingredients. It also has a section on the different ways to eat pizza a section that the English version surprisingly lacks. It then goes into detail about how pizza was introduced into japan and then it has a section on pizza delivery.
What I found does deviate from what I expected. I thought the Japanese version would just be a shorter and less detailed version of the English version of the Wikipedia article. In fact it actually addressed many of the same areas the English version did in the same detail and even had some sections that the English version was lacking.--Youngpenn (talk) 15:21, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
