- 950's: County of Armagnac was created by detaching the western region of Fezensac
- 1119: Widow of the last count of Fezensac married Geraud III of Armagnac thus reuniting the two counties
- 1304: Count Bernard VI of Armagnac acquired the County of Rodez through marriage, in 1298, to Cecilia, daughter and heiress of Henry II of Rodez, last count of the House of Millau.
- 1473: Jean V of Armagnac, rebelling against the King of France, was assassinated; his domains passed to the family of Albret
- ?: First known lord was Yves the Old, a vassal of Hugh Capet of France, who amassed lands in the district.
- ?: Yves' son, Matthieu, assumed the tile of Count of Beaumont and became chamberlain of France
- 1182-1185: Mathieu III of Beaumont (1155-1208) was Count of Valois
- 1205: Mathieu III of Beaumont was Lord of Meru
- 1223: Thibaut of Beaumont sold the county to the Crown of France
