The Woodrow is an upright Appalachian dulcimer style instrument designed by Danny Williams. It is held in the arms and typically strummed. The frets are usually diatonic is spacing. The string order is reversed from that of an Appalachian dulcimer and the range of the fret board are generally one octave.
