Bio
editAbout me
editI am a Pacific Northwest native who enjoys coffee. During my spare time you can find me traveling and exploring. I enjoy visiting different sceneries; I also seek to learn about different cultures. I plan to visit all 7 wonders of the world one day. People who take time to travel and vacation every two years are less likely to have a heart attack or develop a coronary heart disease.[1] Another hobby of mine is photography, I enjoy taking pictures of nature and also of special moments. I look forward to a bright future full of challenges but compensated by many successes. Thank you for visiting my page.
My Wikipedia interests
editIf I am active on Wikipedia in the future, I will keep pages updated with recent photos. If photographs aren't included in some articles, I would enjoy adding them. Adding pictures is extremely rewarding as it paints a vivid picture of the written word for the reader. Another thing I would do is add articles of animals. Ever since a young child I have loved animals and been surrounded by them. Animals bring the best out in people and I am avid defender of them. In addition to animals, I also love nature especially the beach and the mountains. I think those two expressions of nature are perfect compliments of each other.
Article Evaluation
editThere are many water sports out there but the most iconic is wake-surfing. I have always been a huge fan of wake surfing and have enjoyed this sport on many hot summer days, while at the lake. Wake surfing is an amazing way to be active while still enjoying the company of your family and friends. It is one of the most rewarding ways to spend a summer day. I visited the wake-surfing article on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the lack of citations, emphasis of the dangers, and the history of wake surfing.
Citations
editAfter reading through the article, it was evident that there weren't many citations to back up some of the claims. For example, when stating that death might be an outcome of practicing the sport, it is assumed that this is true on many occasions. This baseless assertion can really scare the reader and compel them to drift away from trying out the sport. This claim might also be misleading since there is no factual evidence or statistic to show how many people might “die". The most recent citations date back from 2019. It would be more beneficial to the reader to have this claim be scientifically proven. In addition, it would also be more effective to include more up to date citations since this sport has become more popular in recent the years.
Emphasis of Dangers
editAlthough it is extremely important to warn people about the dangers of wake surfing, it is also important to have the same amount of information on the benefits of this sport. There was a citation on this section that takes the reader to an article that gives advice on how to properly wake surf[2]. I think there should be more information like this on the page. After analyzing the article, I didn’t see anything about the benefits or why people might enjoy this sport.
History
editThere's quite a bit of information about the history of wake surfing however, there isn't any credible evidence as it might come out more opinionated and without proper citations. When talking about the history of wake surfing, it is important to have credible evidence to back up your statements. The ability to be able to go back and reference the source will only make it more credible.
Conclusion
editThis article needs a little more information and reliability. I don't think it is a bad article. In my opinion, it gave enough information about what wake surfing is. Overall, I do believe there needs to be an updated version so that we can have more recent information on the topic. Lastly, I think citations would definitely add to the reliability and accuracy of the claims made about wake surfing.
