Sometimes I come by information that needs to be here. So I made a login.
I'm a middle aged geek, disabled, and a pagan who is interested in accuracy.
BTW, when I am employed I work as a Linux System Engineer (sysadmin), and I have done so since 2000.
On WP:Adminitis and other forms of creep
editFrom what I've seen so far, being an admin here is not a badge of honor. I have no respect for "cowboy" admins. I've had to clean up after too many cowboy sysadmins at work.
Just because I'm new here doesn't mean I'm new to computers, wiki's, volunteering, or the net. If you decide to bite me, don't be surprised if you come back missing teeth. Collaborative projects do not have a place for your ego.
When people start sentences with "You shouldn't" or "You don't" and then tell me what I know/don't know, do/don't do, believe, etc., I will presume that they are trying to pull ego/power games, and write them off as not worth listening to. I am an ex-UseNet person, and am well familiar will power tripping moderators, forum admins, and other flaming idiots.
If you want to debate issues, fine, but if you have done something that on the face of it seems dumb, and I call you on it, don't insult me to try to hide it. Explain, yes. But insults weaken your case, prove you to be a jerk, and muddy the waters.
I'm willing to help, but like many others, I find being treated poorly by arrogant jerks to be a disincentive.
